About Us
Forge Vintage Club
Thanks to the vibrant leadership of a pro-active committee and the strenuous efforts of its 85 dedicated members, Forge Vintage has developed rapidly. It is now greatly admired and respected for the superb impact it makes to the lives of the people, especially in these difficult times. The primary objective of our club is to provide attractive outlets for the passionate enthusiasm which our members have for their vintage vehicles. This is admirably achieved through our Vintage Ploughing match in January and our many and varied road runs throughout the year. We receive tremendous support from our comrade vintage clubs for these truly splendid occasions, which are greatly enjoyed by all the participants and spectators alike.
Furthermore, all the profits accruing from such ventures are liberally shared among local and national institutions, deserving charities and voluntary organizations – all sorely in need of financial assistance. Over the past ten years, in excess of €100,000 has been raised and duly dispersed for charitable purposes. Among the grateful recipients of our magnanimity have been: Wexford Hospice Homecare, Crumlin Childrens Hospital, St Lukes Hospital, Motor Neurone Association, Grantstown Day Care Centre, Community Workshop New Ross, Clongeen Graveyard Society, Local Schools and a number of individuals suddenly struck by serious adversity.
Without the generous support of our magnificent sponsors we would be unable to organize such worthwhile events or to raise the huge amounts of money generated. We are therefore, immensely grateful for the unfailing generosity of our superb sponsors.
A Brief History
The club was formed in January 2009 by local vintage enthusiasts. Like a lot of ideas, it was talked about for a long time before it was decided to have a meeting and gauge the folly or otherwise of such a venture. When over 40 people turned up for the meeting and a long time dream was realised. The Forge Vintage Club continues to grow from strength to strength and the make-up of the current committee is as follows: Vice Chairman-Micksy Toomey; Secretary-Ger Doyle; Vice Secretary-Bridget Banville; Treasurer-Maurice Mythen; P.R.O.-Angela Byrne; Safety Officer-Seamus O Grady;
